Greece rejects four more asylum bids by fleeing Turkish military officers

Greece has rejected the asylum bids of four more Turkish military officers, who fled to Greece in July after the failed coup attempt in Turkey, their Greek lawyer Stavroula Tomara said Tuesday.

This means seven out of the eight Turkish military officers, who landed at an airport in northern Greece on a Turkish military helicopter, have been denied asylum.

Pending is the decision on the eighth applicant which has not be issued yet by the asylum service.

Greek asylum sources told Xinhua on Tuesday that the interview procedures followed the international and EU law, and they were within the time frame of an examination of asylum requests which ranges from one to three months.

Tomara said that all her clients will appeal the decisions.
