Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Ukrainian counterpart Pyotr Poroshenko discussed in a phone conversation on Saturday the issues of strategic partnership of the two countries, the Ukrainian leader’s press service said.
"The sides noted joint determination to continue making all efforts to deepen strategic partnership between the two countries. The leaders of the two countries discussed the issues of developing cooperation in the energy area," the statement said.
Poroshenko "confirmed Ukraine’s support for the lawfully elected president and the government of the Republic of Turkey" in the context of last month’s failed coup in Turkey.
The Ukrainian leader also expressed condolences over the terrorist attacks in eastern Turkey.
