Russian defense Ministry denies the statement of the Minister of defence of Bulgaria Nikolay Nencheva of alleged violations by Russian military planes of air space of NATO.
Such a statement, as reported by RIA Novosti, made on Monday, July 25, the official representative of the defense Ministry Igor Konashenkov.
He wondered how far from the air borders of Bulgaria extend the boundaries imagined by Nencheva area of responsibility the airspace of the Alliance, which he mentioned in a statement.
According to the General, the Russian planes carry out regular flights over the Black sea, the routes of their flight are in strict accordance with international rules of using airspace over neutral waters.
Konashenkov added that all flights, including in June, was only enabled transponders.
“To date, no appeal to us from the Ministry of defence of Bulgaria was not. So before you say to the camera about taking the Bulgarian defense Ministry “preventive measures” response, would recommend the Minister to begin to test the reports of his subordinates about the real situation”, — concluded Konashenkov.
Nencho earlier said that the Russian military and civilian aircraft often violate the airspace of Bulgaria. He described this as “a provocation against Bulgaria and its air force”.
Only in June, according to the Minister, there were four cases of the flight of Russian military aircraft and six passenger liners across the Bulgarian zone of responsibility as part of the commitment of Sophia’s membership in NATO.”
The Minister claims that Russian planes entering the airspace of Bulgaria, as a rule, turn off the transponders. Nencho said that Sofia has demanded explanations, and declared that Bulgaria is forced to raise to support the fighters.
Bulgaria regularly closes its airspace to Russian planes. In October 2015, the authorities have banned the flight of Il-76 EMERCOM carrying humanitarian aid to Syrian Latakia, despite the fact that the route has been agreed in advance. Prior to this, Sofia has closed its airspace to aircraft Russian humanitarian aid on 8 September.
