Erdogan insists on support for Ukraine, condemns oppression of Crimean Tatars

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has expressed support for Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty, and once again condemned the oppression of Crimean Tatars in the occupied Crimea.

The parties had a meeting on the sidelines of the NATO Summit in Warsaw, according to the press service of the president of Ukraine. Poroshenko expressed condolences to the Turkish people over the tragedy at the Istanbul Airport.

"The Turkish President expressed support for Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty, and once again condemned the oppression of Crimean Tatars in the occupied Crimea," the press service reports.

Poroshenko and Erdogan agreed to further coordinate actions in the sphere of regional security and intensification of economic cooperation between the two states.

"Erdogan emphasized that nothing would affect the reinforcement of the Ukraine-Turkey strategic partnership," the report reads.
