The Palestinian authority rejected Netanyahu’s call for direct talks

The head of government of the Palestinian national authority, Rami Hamdallah, has opposed the proposal of the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu to begin direct negotiations, which will allow you to create a Palestinian state.

«His goal is just to gain time. And the time we have and so very little. This time he will not be able to prevent the engagement of the international community,» said Hamdallah,

The statement made in the course of negotiations with the Prime Minister of France, Manuel Valls, was seen as a reaffirmation of the commitment of the French peace initiative for the convening of the peace conference. Israel rejected that initiative.

To the resumption of the talks, the sides called for Egypt. President Abd al-Fattah al-Sisi believes that the time has come to reach an agreement that will become the new middle East miracle, even more important than a Treaty between Israel and Egypt. «As someone who fought in 1967 and 1973, I remember how strong was the hate, how no one believed in the possibility of peace,» he said.

The President invited Egyptian mediation and expressed a willingness to take on some of the actions needed to guarantee the safety of Israel and Palestine. «We need to pass the first stage where there is despair, and then we will see that the peace agreement is indeed possible,» said Al-Sisi.

Speaking on may 23 at the opening of the summer session of the Knesset, Netanyahu expressed willingness to resume talks, which aim to create a Palestinian state. He stressed that such a state must be demilitarized and recognize Israel as a Jewish state.
