Crimea is Russian land and the theme of its territorial affiliation is closed forever, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has said about the European Parliament’s just adopted resolution proposing an end to the anti-Russian sanctions in exchange for Crimea’s handover to Ukraine.
"I give the credit to the lobbyists who for the sake of Kiev or for some other parties involved are pressing for the return of Crimea to Ukraine," she at a news briefing on Thursday. "The people work for money. That’s their business."
Zakharova declared that "everything that may be connected with the theme of Crimea’s return is closed forever."
"Crimea is a territory of Russia," Zakharova said. "Any attempts, including those in the European parliament, to put forward maps with hand-drawn borders are sheer waste of time, money and effort."
"The theme is closed," Zakharova said. "It’s not meant for discussion."
