The helicopter crashed at 1:29 GMT on 12 April. “According to the report from the crash site, fire effects on the helicopter was not”, — reported in the defense Ministry, adding that the reasons for the fall are being investigated.
Both pilots were killed, their bodies evacuated to the base Hamim.
The Mi-28N is actively involved in support of the offensive of the Syrian army in March 2016. Currently Russian helicopters, including Mi-28N, are actively used with the base Shirt. The first Mi-24 appeared there in mid-November 2015.
Attack helicopter Mi-28N “Night hunter” first flew in November 1996, was adopted in 2009. The helicopter is designed to combat armored vehicles and low-speed air targets. Car purchased the Russian air force since 2006.

ReplyDeleteA Russian Mi-28N Night Hunter attack helicopter crashed in Syria in the early hours of Tuesday morning killing both pilots, Russia's Defence Ministry said.
The ministry said the helicopter, which crashed in Homs province, had not been shot down, but the cause of the incident was unclear.
"A group of specialists is working at the crash site to investigate the incident," the ministry said in a statement. The pilots' bodies had been recovered and brought back to Russia's air base in Hmeymim in Latakia province, it said. ... REUTERS
