Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov affirmed that the Russian forces in Syria continue to strike terrorists’ positions and will continue to provide air support for the operations carried out by the Syrian Arab Army.
In a press statement, Peskov reminded of the Russian President Vladimir Putin’s comments that despite withdrawing part of the Russian contingent from Syria, the remaining forces will continue to fight against groups designated as terrorist by UN and “will continue rendering support to the operations of the Syrian army.”
“Our Armed Forces do not carry out any ground operations there,” Peskov said.
He added that the recapture of the city of Palmyra is a very important victory in the fight against terrorism in Syria.
