US President Barack Obama will not publicly endorse any candidate before the 2016 Democratic primary election, White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough said on Sunday.
"We'll do exactly what has been done in the past," McDonough said on NBC news program Meet the Press. He said Obama will be "out there" campaigning to help support the Democratic candidate after the primary election.
The Democratic race is effectively between favorite Hillary Clinton, 68, and independent Senator Bernie Sanders, 74. Former Maryland governor Martin O'Malley trails in third and is seeking an Iowa miracle.
