German police are searching for "five to seven persons" from the terror group Islamic State (IS) after a terror attack alarm on the New Year's Eve, Munich police announced on Friday.
"The very concrete evidence of intelligence sources points to a suicide attack in the center of Munich with five to seven offenders from the IS," according to the Munich police.
Before midnight the police warned that they have received concrete information that strongly indicates that there possible plans for terror attacks in Munich, and they evacuated two possible railway stations, which were then reopened on Friday morning since 0330 local time.
"We are glad that nothing happened tonight. The inquiries go on of course and we will remain watchful," Munich police said.
Munich police reiterated that they would issue warnings if they can't completely exclude a danger for the population.
According to the president of Munich police, Hubertus Andrae, the police will continue to carry out more controls in the urban area in next few days and he asked for understanding.
Meanwhile, local media Bavarian Radio reported that the evidence came from sources of American intelligence services. About five to seven Iraqis would perpetrate in Munich with Kalashnikov submachine guns to carry out an attack similar to the those in Paris.
However, the report is not confirmed by Andrae during a press conference on Friday morning. He said that the police are still examining those hints of alleged suspects, and it is still not known whether there are so-called five to seven suspects from Syria and Iraq.
