Israel launches airstrikes on Gaza in response to rocket firing. (No casualties were reported)

Israeli fighters carried out two successive airstrikes on the Gaza Strip early Monday in response to earlier rocket firing from the coastal enclave into Israel, and no casualties were reported.

Security officials in the Hamas-ruled enclave said one of the airstrikes targeted a post belonging to Hamas naval police in northern Gaza and the other one targeted a training post that belongs to Hamas armed wing in central Gaza.

The officials said that huge explosions were heard right after Israeli helicopters and aircrafts hovered over the enclave, adding that after the two airstrikes, there were no reports on Palestinian casualties or damages.

The two Israeli airstrikes were an immediate Israeli response to an earlier rocket attack that was carried out from the Gaza Strip into Israel. No one claimed responsibility for firing the rocket and no damages or injuries were caused in Israel.

In Dec. 7, Israeli war fighters struck with missiles a training facility that belongs to Hamas armed wing southeast of Gaza following a shooting attack that targeted Israeli soldiers stationed on the border between Israel and Gaza.

Since the end of last year's summer war on the Gaza Strip that lasted for 50 days and killed around 2,200 Palestinians, militants have been firing frequent rockets into Israel, while Israeli war fighters immediately response.
