US-Trained Syrian Opposition Wants to Play Against Russia?

The US-backed Syrian opposition criticized Russia’s actions in Syria and declared that Russian airstrikes targeting ISIL terrorists hinder the resumption of political dialogue in the country, RIA Novosti reported.

The opposition in Syria refused to participate in the negotiations on the peaceful settlement of the conflict in Syria until Russia stops its airstrikes against ISIL terrorists. The opposition accused Russian forces of targeting not only radical Islamists, but the members of the opposition as well, the article said.

According to the author, Pavel Ivanov, the threatening statements of the opposition look more like blackmail, rather than a desire to establish a real dialogue with the current government.

They were apparently inspired by US President Barack Obama’s recent announcement in which he called the Kremlin's policies in the region wrong and said that Russia’s actions hinder the fight against ISIL, Ivanov wrote.

The author mentioned that despite his criticism Obama has not proposed any sustainable plan.

Why didn’t he say what kind of policy would be right? Why didn’t he state what means could be effective in the fight against Islamists? the author asked.

Ivanov stressed that the US is supporting the opposition that is responsible for killing innocent people and is involved in the armed conflict with the legitimate authorities in Damascus in order to maintain its political influence in the region. The success of the Russian operation in Syria poses a danger to the US hegemony and leaves Barack Obama with no other choice than to urge his political vassals make threatening statements.

  1. Syrian Kurds Create Alliance With Opposition Groups to Fight Terrorism...

The Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) in Syria along with several opposition groups in the country decided to create an alliance, called "Syrian Democratic Forces," to fight terrorism, YPG said in a statement Monday.

The group added that the alliance included representatives from YPG, and the Kurdish Women's Protection Units (YPJ), as well as fighters from Burkan al-Furat and smaller opposition groups.

"The sensitive stage through which our country Syria [is passing], and rapid changes on the military and political arenas require a united national military power for all Syrians, including Kurds, Arabs, Assyrians and all others living in the country," the statement published on the YPG Facebook page reads.

On September 30, YPG General Commander Sipan Hemo told Sputnik Kurdistan that Kurds would welcome Russia's help in their fight against ISIL.............http://sptnkne.ws/T4d

  2. The US military has delivered more than 45 tonnes of ammunition to rebels fighting the jihadist group Islamic State (IS) in north-eastern Syria....

C-17 transport aircraft, accompanied by fighter escorts, dropped pallets of supplies overnight in Hassakeh province, a Pentagon spokesman said.

The consignment reportedly comprised small arms, ammunition and grenades.

It comes days after the US abandoned a $500m (£326m) plan to train thousands of "moderate" rebels to fight IS.

The money will instead be used to provide much-needed ammunition and some weapons to commanders of rebel groups already established on the ground.

The Pentagon said the more than 100 pallets dropped in Hassakeh were collected safely. They were intended for Syrian Arab groups whose leaders have been vetted and who enjoy the confidence of the US-led coalition battling IS, it added....BBC
