Impossible to negotiate with IS and powers backing it (Russian presidential envoy)

It is impossible to negotiate with the Islamic State (IS) terrorist organization and the powers backing it, Russian presidential special envoy on Afghanistan, director of the Second Asian Department at the Russian Foreign Ministry Zamir Kabulov said on Thursday.

"If we let IS go now, then the Taliban movement of the mid-1990s will just look childish. It is impossible to negotiate with these people, their ideology and those standing behind their backs.

They will fight and destroy, Kabulov told an international conference on Afghanistan.

The Islamic State trains militants from Russia in Afghanistan, and among those who train them are people with US and UK passports, Kabulov noted.

"Several IS training centers are tasked with training militants specifically from Central Asia and several Russian regions. The working language in this so-called camp is Russian," Kabulov told an international conference on Afghanistan.

There are different instructors in such camps, according to Zamirov, including Arabs, Pakistanis and people with US and UK passports.
