DPRK top leader inspects army unit

Kim Jong Un, top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), has inspected an army unit, the official KCNA news agency reported Friday.

In a dispatch without reference to the inspection date, the state-run news agency said Kim went round the monument in commemoration of late leader Kim Jong Il's on-site inspection and stressed the need to strengthen education of the exploits of the deceased leader, who was his father.

Kim also praised the commanding officers and soldiers of Unit 350 of the Korean People's Army for achieving remarkable results through hard work to glorify the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Workers' Party of Korea, which fell on Oct. 10.

He presented a pair of binoculars and an automatic rifle as gifts to the unit and had a photo session with the servicemen.

Accompanying Kim were Hwang Pyong So, director of the General Political Bureau of the Korean People's Army, and O Kum Chol, vice chief of the General Staff of the Korean People's Army.
