Russian cosmonauts return to ISS after more than five-hour-long spacewalk

Russian cosmonauts Gennady Padalka and Mikhail Korniyenko have returned to the Pirs (ISS module) of the International Space Station [ISS] after spending more than five hours in outer space.

They have fulfilled the assigned tasks," a source at the Mission Control Center told TASS on Monday.

"The cosmonauts have closed the escape hatch. The spacewalk is over," the source said.

Russian cosmonauts walked out to the ISS surface at around 17:20 Moscow time and returned at 22:51 Moscow time on August 10.

It was the 41st spacewalk under the Russian ISS programme and the 48th - from the station’s Russian segment, including unplanned spacewalks.
