Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan announced that Armenia will
sign a deal to join the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) on Oct. 10 in
Minsk, capital of Belarus.
"There is not much time till Oct. 10. I am sure that Armenia will sign the contract, and we will enter the Eurasian united economic space," he told a press conference before the executive meeting of the Republican Party of Armenia on Thursday.
Abrahamyan said that he doesn't see any obstacles for Armenia's entry into the union, because the country fulfilled all the obligations, and most likely it will soon become a full member of the community, according to Armenpress.
The EEU currently groups Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus, leaders of which signed a treaty on the creation of the EEU on May 29.
The EEU is expected to officially come into effect on Jan. 1, 2015.
