Serbia dissatisfied with EC decision to invite Kosovo (the word "Kosovo" followed by an asterisk/donor conference in Brussels)

BELGRADE - Kosovo too will take part in the upcoming donor conference in Brussels, Belgrade-based daily Politika reports, and Ivan Mrkic, Serbian president's foreign policy advisor, says that Serbia is dissatisfied with the decision of the European Commission (EC) to invite Pristina to the event.
"I told (Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia) Michael Davenport and conference organizers, associates of French President (Francois) Hollande, that Kosovo should not be invited because they cannot even help themselves," Mrkic said.

  • According to the daily's source from the EC, Kosovo will be represented by Foreign Minister Enver Hodzaj, who will be seated behind a nameplate with the word 'Kosovo' followed by an asterisk, which is in line with the Belgrade-Pristina 2012 agreement on regional representation of Kosovo.

A donor conference under the motto "Rebuilding Together" will be held in Brussels on July 16 in order to mobilize further support for Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina after the severe floods that hit the countries in May, the European Commission, which will host the event, announced on Friday.

The objective of the conference, co-organized by France and Slovenia, is to raise funds for the recovery of Serbia and BiH.

The conference will contribute to stepping up cooperation over floods and natural disasters in the region, as well as operational coordination.
