(dpa)

  1. Exit poll: Dutch pro-European parties lead in European elections ....

Two pro-European parties CDA and D66 gained most Dutch votes in the elections for the European Parliament, with the anti-European party PVV losing support, an exit poll released by national broadcaster NOS reported Thursday.

Just like in Britain, elections for the EP were held on Thursday in The Netherlands. About 13 million of the 16.7 million Dutch people were eligible to vote for 26 seats in the European Parliament of a total of 751 European seats.

At 9 p.m. local time (0700 GMT) the voting booths were closed, and the exit poll, carried out by research agency Ipsos, reported the preliminary results with the D66 (Democrats) being the top winner with a gain of 15.6 percent of votes.

The CDA (Christian Democrats) came at the second place with 15.2 percent of votes, followed by the VVD (Liberals with 12.3 percent) and the PVV (Party of Freedom with 12.2 percent).

The turn-out rate hit 37 percent, slightly more than five years ago of 36.8 percent of the electorate, the exit poll showed.

The preliminary results would mean that the CDA may lose one of its five seats in the EP, the D66 may take four seats, and the PVV, only three seats left...............http://www.globaltimes.cn/content/861857.shtml
