“Solution of the name dispute must come from within".-This process doesn’t have time limits.

US Department of State senior official, Hoyt Brian Yee declared that it’s not up to the USA and European Union to find a solution about the name dispute issue, but this must be done by the parties to the dispute.

Mr. Yee made these comments after his agenda  in Skopje, where he held his last meeting with prime minister Nikola Gruevski. Yee added that USA are very much interested on FYROM’s efforts to achieve its goals. “With the government representatives and opposition, we have talked about the joint interest in order to find ways to overcome the barriers that exist, including the name dispute”, declared the senior US official who had meetings today in Skopje with president George Ivanov, prime minister Nikola Gruevski, deputy prime minister for European integrations, Fatmir Besimi, leader of BDI, Ali Ahmeti and leader of  opposition LSDM, Zoran Zaev.

Asked as to whether he talked to prime minister Nikola Gruevski about concrete proposals in relation to the name dispute with Greece, he underlined that “there haven’t been concrete proposals and all parties must think of the possibilities and the need to find a solution, while USA will support this process”. He stressed that USA backs the accession of the country in the NATO and EU and that this process doesn’t have time limits.

Asked about the possibility for early parliamentary elections, the US senior diplomat added that “such decision must serve to the goals of the country and these elections must be free and democratic”.

Yee and Gruevski have also talked about bilateral cooperation, which they considered to be excellent.

But, the prime minister has not issued a declaration for the media and did this through a press release instead. According to this press release, the US senior official has been briefed on the achievements in the aspect of reforms undertaken by the government, progress made in strategic goals for the accession in NATO and EU and other government measures. Gruevski has also said that the country is ready to find a solution about the name dispute, in the framework of the process which is taking place with the UN brokerage.

Mr. Yee has also met with the leader of BDI Ali Ahmeti and with the leader of opposition, Zoran Zaev. The two political leaders have outlined their position about the domestic political developments, but also about the need to unblock Euro integrating processes, finding a prompt solution to the name dispute. /ibna/
