The European Parliament foreign committee voted today the draft resolution of the Euro MP and special raportteur on FYROM, Richard Howitt, which calls for a solution to the name dispute, the opening of negotiations for the accession of FYROM in the EU and the realization of domestic reforms through political consensus.
The resolution is expected to receive the green light next month by the European Parliament. Howitt declared that through this resolution, Athens, in the quality of EU president, must see the solution of the name dispute for FYROM as a priority and not as an obstacle.
He said that the resolution calls on Greece to use its leadership in order to overcome the gridlock that has existed so far in relation to Skopje, which aspires European integration and fresh efforts to be made to solve the name dispute.
“But, on the other hand, we appeal Skopje to make steps forward, in order to solve the name dispute issue and to work in order to launch negotiations for EU accession”, said Howitt after the voting of the draft resolution. /ibna/

ReplyDeleteForeign Affairs Committee MEPs voting on Tuesday once again called on the Council to set a date for starting EU accession negotiations with the FYROM. They also backed plans for further talks with Montenegro and called on EU leaders to show more commitment to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
FYROM: starting date needed for talks
MEPs again call on the Council to set a date for the start of EU accession talks, stressing that further delay could create an unreasonable disparity in the region, potentially posing further risks to good inter-ethnic relations. They underline that bilateral issues should be addressed as early as possible in the accession process and preferably before the opening of talks and [ask for more concrete results in establishing good neighbourly relations between Athens, Sofia and Skopje].
The committee regrets the deterioration of the country's reputation in relation to media freedom. Safeguarding freedom of expression, with media free from political interference, is a vital challenge of the country it says and calls for more consultation and dialogue about the current media law, as well as efforts to rebuild trust between the government and media.

Европскиот парламент ќе расправа за извештајот за FYROM....
ReplyDeleteЕвропскиот парламент доцна вечер ќе расправа за извештајот подготвен од британскиот европратиник Ричард Ховит за напредокот на FYROM во 2013 година.
Во резолуцијата за која по вечерашнава дебата, европратениците ќе гласаат утре, Европскиот парламент уште еднаш го повикува Советот на Европската унија да утврди без одлагање датум за почеток на преговорите за членство на FYROM во ЕУ. Притоа се нагласува дека билатералните проблеми не треба да бидат пречка за почеток на преговорите, иако тие треба да бидат решени пред крајот на процесот за зачленување.
Билатералните и добрососедските односи според предложениот текст треба да бидат во конструктивен дух водејќи сметка за принципите на ОН и ЕУ.
ЕП жали што одлагањето на датумот за преговори ја акцентира растечката фрустрација на јавното мислење во однос на ќорсокакот во кој се наоѓа процесот на интеграција во Унијата и ризикува да предизвика проблеми и тензии во земјата. Исто така, ЕП жали што Советот не ја повтори истата формулација од 2012 година во однос на FYROM.
Грција е повикана да го искорсти своето претседавање со ЕУ за да даде нов елан на процесот на интеграција, со што ќе ги потврди ангажирањата од агендата Солун 2003 и ќе создаде позитивен амбиент за решавање на билатералните разлики во духот на европските вредности и да ја искористи својата раководна позиција за да изработи иницијативи кои имаат за цел излез од актуелниот ќорсокак на преговорите за изнаошање на решение.
