Χθες (5 Δεκεμβρίου) πραγματοποιήθηκε η σύνοδος κορυφής του ΟΑΣΕ στην ουκρανική πρωτεύουσα, εν μέσω έντονων διαμαρτυριών στους δρόμους για την απόφαση της κυβέρνησης να μην υπογράψει τη συμφωνία σύνδεσης με την ΕΕ αλλά αντίθετα, να επιλέξει να ενισχύσει τις οικονομικές σχέσεις της χώρας με τη Ρωσία.
Η Ουκρανία έχει την εκ περιτροπής Προεδρία του ΟΑΣΕ και πραγματοποίησε την 20η Υπουργική Σύνοδο. Ωστόσο ο Kerry αποφάσισε να «σνομπάρει» τη Σύνοδο του ΟΑΣΕ και να κάνει 4ωρη επίσκεψη στη γειτονική Μολδαβία, την πρώην σοβιετική δημοκρατία. Η Μόσχα πρόσφατα «τιμώρησε» τη Μολδαβία για την φιλοευρωπαϊκή στροφή της απαγορεύοντας την εισαγωγή κρασιών από τη χώρα στη ρωσική αγορά. Σύμφωνα με τις ρωσικές αρχές τροφίμων, η απόφαση σχετίζεται με την ποιότητα των κρασιών της Μολδαβίας.
- Η επίσκεψη Kerry στη Μολδαβία διήρκησε 4 ώρες και περιελάμβανε συνάντηση στα διάσημα οινοποιεία της χώρας.
- Ο Αμερικανός αξιωματούχος δεν ανέφερε δημόσια το όνομα της Ρωσίας, αλλά αντίθετα επαίνεσε τη Μολδαβία για τις φιλοδυτικές της φιλοδοξίες.
Στη σύνοδο κορυφής της Ανατολικής Εταιρικής Σχέσης 28-29 Νοεμβρίου, η Μολδαβία προέβη σε μονογραφή της Συμφωνίας Σύνδεσης με την ΕΕ καθώς και μιας Συμφωνίας Ελευθέρου Εμπορίου. Έλαβε επίσης και τα εύσημα των Βρυξελλών όντας «τεχνικά» έτοιμη να αρθεί η απαίτηση βίζας για τους πολίτες της όταν ταξιδεύουν στην περιοχή Schengen της ΕΕ.
Η Μολδαβία ελπίζει να υπογράψει τη Συμφωνία Σύνδεσης στη θητεία της τωρινής Κομισιόν και του Κοινοβουλίου. Το ίδιο ελπίζει και για την άρση της απαίτησης βίζας.

Yanukovich going to Russia, agency says, as Ukraine protesters defy police...
ReplyDelete(Reuters) - Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich was flying to Russia on Friday to meet Vladimir Putin, a news agency reported, seeking aid to shore up a creaking economy while protesters back home, opposed to his U-turn away from Europe, defied police.
Quoting an informed source, Ukraine's UNIAN agency said Yanukovich would stop off on his return from a visit to China to hold talks with the Russian president in the Black Sea resort of Sochi.
Neither the Kremlin nor officials in Kiev would comment immediately on the report of the meeting in Sochi, although the presidential website said Yanukovich had postponed a visit to Malta next week.
If the Sochi meeting is held, the two presidents will talk while several hundred protesters are still massed on Kiev's Independence Square and others continue occupying City Hall, defying a police threat of a harsh crackdown imminently.
Ukraine needs help with $17 billion in debt repayments and Russian gas bills next year. While in Beijing, Yanukovich announced deals which may bring $8 billion in Chinese investment but these are unlikely to meet the economy's short-term cash needs.
But if the two leaders meet in Sochi - which will host the Winter Olympics in February - this will lend ammunition to the Ukrainian opposition. It accuses Yanukovich, who walked away last month from a trade agreement with the European Union, of betraying the national interest by turning the clock back and forging closer economic ties with Ukraine's old Soviet master.
Analysts say Yanukovich's government appears to have struck a bargain with Putin, including for supplies of cheaper Russian gas and possibly credits, in exchange for backing away from the EU deal which would have heralded a historic shift westwards.
Former economy minister Arseny Yatsenyuk, one of the opposition leaders, warned of even bigger protests if Yanukovich signed any agreement with Putin on the Russian-led customs union which Moscow wants Ukraine to join.

Russian, Ukrainian presidents have brief working meeting in Russia’s Sochi...
ReplyDeleteMOSCOW, December 06. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin had a working meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart in the Russian Black Sea resort city of Sochi, Russian president’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov said on Friday.
“The Ukrainian president made a stopover in Sochi on his way home from China,” Peskov said. “During their brief working meeting, the two presidents discussed current issues of the bilateral relations and aspects of the preparations for a meeting of the Russian-Ukrainian interstate commission due to be held in Moscow.”
On Wednesday, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev received in Moscow visiting Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Boiko. The sides agreed to invigorate cooperation in a number of areas. “In order to continue cooperation, we agreed with the president of Ukraine and prime minister to advance work in all areas,” Medevdev said at the meeting.
He noted that Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin had tavelled to Ukraine just recently and “visited some enterprises to see where cooperation can be stepped up: in industry, in the defence industry and in space. But we should move further.”
Medvedev expressed hope that Boiko’s visit would “lend necessary dynamics to the work on issues in which we lacked such progress up to date.” He also stressed that Ukraine remained “an important strategic partner of Russia.

Mit eine Welle des Volkszorns die Opposition in der Ukraine der Regierung, sollte sie nicht auf EU-Kurs umschwenken. Den fordert auch Europapolitiker Elmar Brok, während Russland die Ukraine derzeit hinhält.
Kiew/MoskauRussland und die Ukraine haben sich noch nicht auf niedrigere Erdgaspreise und den Beitritt der Ukraine zu einer Zollunion geeinigt. „Bislang ist nichts unterzeichnet worden. Das sind alles Gerüchte", sagte ein Sprecher von Ministerpräsident Mikola Asarow am Samstag der Nachrichtenagentur Reuters zu Medienspekulationen über entsprechende Abmachungen.
Auch ein Sprecher von Russlands Präsident Wladimir Putin erklärte, es gebe noch keine endgültige Einigung. Putin hatte sich am Freitag mit seinem ukrainischen Kollegen Viktor Janukowitsch in Sotschi am Schwarzen Meer getroffen. Die Verhandlungen zwischen den ehemaligen Sowjet-Staaten sollen in den kommenden Tagen fortgeführt werden. Für den 17. Dezember ist ein Treffen der Regierungen beider Staaten angesetzt.
Russland will die Ukraine zum Beitritt zu einer Zollunion mit Weißrussland und Kasachstan bewegen. Medienberichten zufolge würde die Regierung in Moskau im Gegenzug den Preis für Erdgas halbieren und dem Nachbarn Finanzhilfen anbieten.

Die Ukraine muss nach Expertenschätzungen im kommenden Jahr 17 Milliarden Dollar für Gas-Importe und Schuldenzahlungen aufbringen, was etwa den gesamten Devisenreserven der ukrainischen Zentralbank entspricht. Eine Einigung könnte die Spannungen in der Ukraine zwischen pro-russischen und pro-europäischen Gruppen verschärfen. Für Sonntag wurden neue Proteste in Kiew erwartet.
Wenn Präsident Viktor Janukowitsch das Land an Russland verkauft, wird er eine nie dagewesene Welle des Volkszorns erleben“, sagte Arseni Jazenjuk von der Partei der inhaftierten Ex-Regierungschefin Julia Timoschenko am Samstag in Kiew. In der früheren Sowjetrepublik demonstrieren seit Wochen Zehntausende gegen die Regierung, die auf russischen Druck ein Assoziierungsabkommen mit der EU gestoppt hatte.
