Turkey will receive the the Greek Cypriot negotiator for Cyprus dispute soon, and Athens will receive the negotiator of the (so called) "Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus" (TRNC) said Bagis in a televised program over the negotiations on the Cyprus issue.
Bagis stressed that solution in the Cyprus issue would provide Turkey the opportunity to open 12 chapters in its EU accession process.
"If Cyprus issue would be solved, Turkey is at the point to open 12 chapters for its EU talks, and also to fulfill the requirements for 10 of them shortly after opening." said Bagis.
The island has been divided into Greek and Turkish sides during the Greek Cypriot coup, which was followed by a Turkish "peace mission" (sic) to aid Turkish Cypriots in the north in 1974.

ReplyDeleteΛευκωσία: Στo ενδεχόμενο να προκύψει σχέδιο Μπαν Γκι μουν στο Κυπριακό αναφέρθηκε ο Τούρκος Υπουργός για θέματα ΕΕ και αρχιδιαπραγματευτής, Εγκεμέν Μπαγίς λέγοντας πως εάν λυθεί το Κυπριακό η Τουρκία είναι σε κατάσταση πολύ σύντομα να ανοίξει 12 κεφάλαια και να μπορεί να κλείσει τα 10.
Σύμφωνα με το τουρκικό πρακτορείο ειδήσεων Ανατολή, ο κ. Μπαγίς συμμετέχοντας σε τηλεοπτική εκπομπή και απαντώντας σε θέματα της επικαιρότητας αναφέρθηκε και στις αμοιβαίες συναντήσεις με την «ε/κ διοίκηση» και (του τ/κ διαπραγματευτή με) την Ελλάδα για το Κυπριακό, λέγοντας ότι είναι θέμα συζήτησης να προκύψει ένα σχέδιο Μπαν Γκι μουν, παρόμοιο με το σχέδιο Ανάν.
Αναφερόμενος στις διαπραγματεύσεις Τουρκίας – ΕΕ και σε παρατήρηση ότι μέχρι τώρα μόνο ένα κεφάλαιο έχει κλείσει, ο Τούρκος αρμόδιος Υπουργός απάντησε ότι μέχρι τώρα δεν μπορούν να κλείσουν κεφάλαιο γιατί, όσο δεν λύνεται το Κυπριακό, αυτό είναι απόφαση της ΕΕ. Αλλά, είπε, υπάρχουν θετικές εξελίξεις αυτό το διάστημα στο Κυπριακό, σημειώνοντας ότι πως ο «υπουργός» εξωτερικών, Οζντίλ Ναμί που ήταν πριν ο διαπραγματευτής της τ/κ πλευράς, έχει εισέλθει σε μια εντατική προσπάθεια.
Ευχήθηκε δε ότι σύντομα θα δεχθούν στην Άγκυρα τον διαπραγματευτή της «ε/κ διοίκησης». Και η Αθήνα, συνέχισε, θα δεχθεί τον διαπραγματευτή του ψευδοκράτους και «όπως το σχέδιο Ανάν, ένα νέο σχέδιο των ΗΕ, ίσως ένα σχέδιο Μπαν Γκι μουν θα προκύψει και εάν το Κυπριακό λυθεί τότε εμείς πολύ σύντομα είμαστε σε θέση να ανοίξουμε άνετα 12 κεφάλαια και να μπορέσουν να κλείσουν 10».

CYPRUS: Remarks by the Minister of Foreign Affairs - 02/02/2014....
ReplyDeleteThe talks on the Cyprus problem were interrupted by the leader of the Turkish Cypriot community Mr Dervish Eroglu eight months prior to the 2013 Presidential Elections in the Republic of Cyprus, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Ioannis Kasoulides said today, explaining that it is, therefore, baseless to claim otherwise.
In his remarks to the press, on the sidelines of the celebrations for St Maron, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, invited to comment on remarks made by the UN Secretary General on Cyprus and on the issue of the interruption of the talks between the two communities on the Cyprus problem, said that “I have contacted the Republic’s Permanent Representative to the UN to issue a strong demarche to the Office of the UN Secretary General for the following reasons:
Firstly, because it is baseless for the UN SG to claim that the talks were interrupted due to the elections. The talks were interrupted by Mr Eroglu, eight months prior to the elections under the pretext and his protest with regard to the assumption of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union by the Republic of Cyprus. Mr Christofias, as President of the Republic of Cyprus at the time, had stated publicly that he was eager to continue the talks during the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU.
Secondly, a strong demarche will be issued with regard to the reference by the UN Secretary General on elections in the “Greek Cypriot community” (instead of in the Republic of Cyprus).” He added that the UN Secretary General should be aware of which states are members of the United Nations.
Replying to a question, Mr Kasoulides said that “I want to believe that these issues are probably not as clear to him as they are to those who deal directly with the issues concerning Cyprus. We have to admit that the UN Secretary General deals with very serious issues at the moment. If he paid a bit more attention he would have avoided these mistakes. I do not believe that this (the remark by the UN SG) was made on purpose.”
