Report: Israel destroyed Hezbollah-bound missile shipment in Syria.

U.S. source tells CNN that latest strikes on Syria were carried out by Israel, in the wake of a similar report by Al Arabiya.

Israel Air Force are behind the recent attack on a military base in the Syrian city of Latakia, a U.S. official told CNN on Thursday.
According to the unnamed source, the strike targeted a shipment of missiles and related equipment Israeli intelligence estimated were to be transferred to Hezbollah.
Earlier on Thursday, citing anonymous sources, Al-Arabiya carried a similar report.

It said that the strikes targeted an SA-8 surface-to-air missile shipment for Hezbollah and that the two targets were destroyed.
In addition to striking Latakia, the Saudi-owned news outlet said, Israeli planes had also staged an attack in Damascus on Wednesday.

It remained unclear whether anyone was wounded in either of the reported strikes.
Eye witnesses told the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Tuhrsday that the explosion, heard on Wednesday, took place near Snobar Jableh, south of Latakia........http://www.haaretz.com/news/middle-east/1.555428

  3. ‘Turkey behind strike on Latakia airbase in Syria’.....

Lebanese TV station says Ankara carried out attack Wednesday in response to downed Turkish jet last year; Jerusalem mum on reports.

A report by Lebanon’s MTV Thursday cited Turkey as being behind the Wednesday attack in Latakia, Syria, which reportedly targeted “missiles and related equipment” meant for Lebanese terror group Hezbollah. The report, according to Israel Radio, is said to be based on Israeli officials who allegedly claimed the attack came in response to the June 2012 interception of a Turkish jet, which Syrian forces shot down. The pilots were subsequently killed. The report could not be independently confirmed.

On Thursday, an Obama administration official confirmed that Israeli warplanes had, in fact, attacked an airbase in Latakia on Wednesday. Israel has so far remained tight-lipped over the alleged strike.......http://www.timesofisrael.com/turkey-behind-syria-strike-on-hezbollah-bound-missiles/

    1. Turkish FM Davutoğlu rejects claims of cooperation with Israel in strike against Syrian base...

Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu has rejected allegations that Turkey gave intelligence to Israel during an attack against a military base near the Syrian coastal city of Latakia early Oct. 31.

“There is an attempt to give the impression that Turkey has coordinated with Israel. We have issues with Syria, an issue based on a principle. But let me say it clearly: The Turkish government has never cooperated with Israel against any Muslim country, and it never will,” Davutoğlu told reporters during a joint press conference in Istanbul Nov. 1 with his visiting Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif.

Several reports said, citing unnamed U.S. officials, that Israel targeted a missile storage center with Russian-made SA-125 missiles, likely to be supplied to Hezbollah, the Shiite Lebanese militant group.

Reports relayed by Israeli media claimed that Turkey was behind the attack in Latakia by disclosing critical information to Israel.

Davutoğlu slammed the reports, describing them as “black propaganda.” “Those [reports] are attempts to cast a shadow on the Syrian people’s rightful struggle and Turkey’s attitude with principles. It is out of the question for us to participate in any common operation,” he said.......http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/turkish-fm-davutoglu-rejects-claims-of-cooperation-with-israel-in-strike-against-syrian-base.aspx?pageID=238&nID=57248&NewsCatID=359
