Απαντώντας σε ερώτηση σχετικά με το ζήτημα της ονομασίας της πΓΔΜ, κατά τη διάρκεια της καθημερινής ενημέρωσης των δημοσιογράφων στην έδρα του ΟΗΕ, ο εκπρόσωπος του Γενικού Γραμματέα του ΟΗΕ, Μάρτιν Νεζίρκι, ανέφερε ότι ο προσωπικός απεσταλμένος του ΓΓ του ΟΗΕ, Μάθιου Νίμιτς, σχεδιάζει να καλέσει στη Νέα Υόρκη, εντός των επόμενων εβδομάδων, τους διαπραγματευτές των δύο πλευρών. Ο Εκπρόσωπος εξέφρασε την ελπίδα του Γ.Γ. ότι «οι συζητήσεις αυτές θα προετοιμάσουν το έδαφος για σοβαρές διαπραγματεύσεις, με στόχο να βρεθεί μια αμοιβαία αποδεκτή επίλυση στο ζήτημα του ονόματος».
Ο κ. Νεζίρκι επισήμανε ότι ο Γενικός Γραμματέας συναντήθηκε την Κυριακή με τον Αντιπρόεδρο και υπουργό Εξωτερικών της Ελλάδας και θα συναντηθεί, αργότερα εντός της εβδομάδας, με τον Πρωθυπουργό της ΠΓΔΜ και πρόσθεσε ότι μια λύση στο αποκαλούμενο ως ζήτημα του «ονόματος» είναι προς το συμφέρον και των δύο χωρών, αλλά και της περιοχής των Δυτικών Βαλκανίων συνολικά, όπως είπε.

- Matthew Nimetz, the UN Special Representative for the naming dispute, will convene the FYROM and Greek negotiators in New York in the coming weeks.
The spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, Martin Nesirky said this had been announced following talks at the UN General Assembly in New York.

SOLUTION TO “NAME” DISPUTE IN INTEREST OF GREECE, FORMER YUGOSLAV REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA – U.N.
ReplyDeleteAsked about the “name” dispute, the Spokesperson noted that the Secretary-General met on Sunday with the Foreign Minister of Greece and would meet later in the week with the Prime Minister of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia later this week.
He said that a solution to the so-called “name” issue is in the interest of both countries, as well as to the Western Balkans as a whole.
The Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy, Matthew Nimetz, visited the region earlier this month and met with senior government officials of both countries to seek their views on his most recent proposal.
With a view to narrow differences and to seek further convergences, Mr. Nimetz is planning to convene the Representatives of the parties in New York in the coming weeks.
