Brengelman: FYROM in NATO once it resolves the name dispute

by Naser Pajaziti (balkaneu.com)

FYROM will receive an invitation to become a NATO member as soon as there’s an agreement with Greece about the name dispute, was declared today in Skopje by the vice secretary general of NATO, Dirk Brengelman.

Brengelman underlined that the decision of the Bucharest Summit is still in force, confirmed by the Chicago Summit, according to which without the solution of the name dispute, FYROM cannot become a member of the Alliance.

“NATO is very interested for improvements in the rule of law, the judicial system and media. At the same time, it pledges for a full implementation of the Frame Agreement and the development of international relations, which are difficult, but achievable”, said Brengelman during the meeting with the Foreign Minister of FYROM, Nikola Popovski.

The latter underlined that during the meeting with the NATO senior official, FYROM has been considered as a serious partner of the Alliance. /ibna/
