El Ejército turco vuelve a atacar a los sirios kurdos un día después del ataque en Afrín

El Ejército turco afirmó haber atacado las posiciones de la milicia YPG (Unidades de Protección Popular) en "legítima defensa", en respuesta al fuego proveniente de esa región. Los militares precisaron que el ataque fue dirigido a unos campamentos y refugios de las milicias.


El viernes, las Fuerzas Armadas de Turquía habían llevado a cabo al menos 10 bombardeos en Afrín, una zona de población kurda en el noroeste de Siria. Según informes locales, los ataques fueron dirigidos contra el YPG del Kurdistán sirio, que Turquía considera una organización terrorista.

Se estima que el 65 por ciento de la frontera entre Turquía y Siria está controlada actualmente por agrupaciones kurdas ligadas al YPG.

  3. Main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has urged the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) to resort to diplomacy before launching any military operation into Syria’s Afrin, stressing that an international agreement is necessary.

    “If diplomacy is used, an agreement is reached, and aerial support is also provided, the problem can be solved. Otherwise, the problem would grow bigger and its cost for Turkey would be hefty,” Kılıçdaroğlu said on Jan. 19 in Ankara.

    Syria's Manbij will be the next destination for a Turkish combat operation, Erdoğan added, addressing the crowd during the sixth regular congress held by his Justice and Development Party (AKP).
