Syria Army Liberates Several Areas in Raqqa

Raqqa syria
Syria’s army and its allies continued their military campaign against Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) terrorists in Raqqah, liberating several areas in the northern city.

According to Tasnim dispatches, Syrian forces, backed by the Arab country’s warplanes, on Monday stepped up their attacks on Daesh militants in the eastern countryside of Raqqa and recaptured a number of districts, including al-Jabeelah and al-Sabeeat.

Large groups of the Takfiri militants were killed during the clashes.

In a separate development, the army scored gains against the militants in the areas of al-Hamidiya and Panorama in the eastern province of Deir ez-Zor, killing and injuring scores of them.

Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with various terrorist groups, including Daesh (also known as ISIS or ISIL), currently controlling parts of it.

According to a report by the Syrian Center for Policy Research, the conflict has claimed the lives of over 470,000 people, injured 1.9 million others, and displaced nearly half of the country’s pre-war population of about 23 million within or beyond its borders.
