The White House has said President Donald Trump will sign a bill into law imposing new sanctions against Russia, ending speculation over whether he would veto the measure.
The US House of Representatives and the Senate have both voted in favour of the new bill.
The bill, which also imposes sanctions on Iran and North Korea, was backed by a significant margin of 98-2 with strong support from Republicans as well as Democrats.
Deputy White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a statement: "President Donald J. Trump read early drafts of the bill and negotiated regarding critical elements of it"
"He has now reviewed the final version and, based on its responsiveness to his negotiations, approves the bill and intends to sign it."
