Venezuelan gov't, opposition agree on mechanism for peaceful coexistence

Venezuela's government and members of the opposition reached agreement Saturday on a mechanism for peaceful coexistence, in which both sides pledged to uphold the constitution and agreed to adopt measures aimed at improving the supply of food and medicine in the country.

The oil-rich South American nation, which has been pummeled by the steep drop in global crude prices, is in recession and suffering from sky-high inflation.
