Kaos: UK's May Gov't 'Obviously Has No Idea' on How to Implement Brexit

The government of UK Prime Minister Theresa May obviously "has no idea" on how to achieve the United Kingdom leaving the European Union, and its policies will remain unclear until she formulates a plan on how to do so, former UK Government Cabinet Secretary and Liberal Democrat lawmaker Alistair Carmichael told Sputnik on Tuesday.

His comments come as the fall-out from a leaked memo allegedly written by a strategic consultant to the UK Government was passed to the media. The document warns that the UK government is still to agree on a strategic plan that will safeguard Britain's interests and goes onto to detail political rifts among the UK Cabinet.

"It is already obvious that five months after the referendum vote that Theresa May's government has no idea about what it wants to achieve or how it wants to achieve it," Carmichael said.

"We don’t know what the providence [of the leaked memo] is, but it is clear that until the government gives the civil servants strategic policy aims then the questions that it raises will not be answered," Carmichael said.
