Three Russian submarines armed with cruise missiles head to Syrian waters for Aleppo offensive

Three Russian submarines were detected by the Royal British Navy in the Irish Sea this past weekend, the Independent reported on Sunday.

"The Royal Navy and NATO have been tracking the two Akula-class submarines and a diesel-powered Kilo-class sub as they travelled to join the fleet of Russian ships headed by the Soviet-era aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov," the Independent added.

These three submarines are likely armed with kalibr cruise missiles that will be used against the jihadist rebels fighting the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in the Aleppo Governorate.

The main vessel in this naval fleet is the Russian aircraft carrier, Admiral Kuznetsov; this ship is carrying several fighter jets and attack helicopters that are going to conduct airstrikes against anti-government forces in Syria.
