Former Spanish Socialist Party leader steps down from Congress seat

The former leader of the Spanish Socialist Party (PSOE) announced Saturday that he was resigning from his seat in Congress.

Pedro Sánchez said in a press conference that he was resigning on the day of the investiture vote because he profoundly disagreed with his party's decision to allow acting conservative Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy to form a government.
